Patna: The Bihar government will launch special electric and pink bus services for secretariat employees in Patna from Monday, officials said.
The service, operated by the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC), will provide direct connectivity from different parts of the city to the new and old secretariat.
Transport secretary Raj Kumar said the initiative aims to offer government employees a safe, accessible and timely commuting option while reducing dependence on private vehicles.
New route and timings
According to officials, buses will begin operations at 8.30am, with return services available from the secretariat in the evening.
One of the routes will start from Dhanuki Mor and pass through Kumhrar, Bhootnath Road, NMCH, Rajendra Nagar Terminal, Kankarbagh colony mor, Karbigahiya station and R block before reaching Vikas Bhavan.
Focus on reducing traffic and fuel use
The government said the initiative is part of broader efforts to strengthen public transport and reduce petrol and diesel consumption in the city.
BSRTC administrator Atul Kumar Verma said a large number of government employees currently use private cars and motorcycles for daily travel to the secretariat, contributing to traffic congestion and higher fuel consumption.
He said the special bus service would provide a practical public transport alternative and help reduce the use of private vehicles.
Electric buses already operational
Officials said BSRTC is currently operating 25 electric buses across Patna and described the new service as an expansion of the state’s push towards cleaner and more efficient urban transport.
