Patna: The Bihar State Milk Co-operative Federation, known as Comfed, has increased the retail prices of Sudha milk by Rs 2 per litre, adding further pressure on household budgets already affected by rising food costs.
The revised prices have come into effect immediately across major variants of Sudha milk sold in Patna and other districts of Bihar.
Revised Milk Prices
Under the new pricing structure, Sudha Gold milk, earlier priced at Rs 65 per litre, will now cost Rs 67 per litre. Sudha Shakti milk has been revised from Rs 57 to Rs 59 per litre.
Cow milk has also seen a similar increase, moving from Rs 54 per litre to Rs 56 per litre, according to the revised rate list issued by Comfed.
Market Context
The increase follows a similar revision recently implemented by Amul, which also raised milk prices by Rs 2 per litre. In Bihar’s retail dairy market, products from multiple brands, including Amul and Aashirvaad, are widely available alongside Sudha.
Market observers expect that other dairy brands operating in the region may review their pricing in response to the latest revision.
Impact on Consumers
The price hike is likely to affect daily consumption patterns in households that rely on milk as a regular dietary item. Monthly expenses are expected to rise for families dependent on consistent milk purchases.
Other Dairy Products
Despite the increase in milk prices, there has been no change in the retail rates of paneer, khoya, chhena and related dairy-based sweets for now, providing partial relief to consumers.
However, traders remain cautious, with uncertainty over whether downstream products may also see price adjustments in the coming weeks.
