Patna: The Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) in Patna organised the 17th Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) provider training programme, with participation from doctors and healthcare workers across multiple departments.
The programme aimed to strengthen clinical knowledge and practical skills related to the initial assessment, emergency treatment and management of trauma patients. The training was conducted in line with internationally recognised ATLS protocols.
Focus on simulation and practical learning
The sessions included interactive lectures, skill station exercises, simulation-based training and hands-on practical modules.
Organisers said the programme placed special emphasis on systematic trauma care and rapid decision-making during emergency situations.
Experts underline importance of trauma care training
Course director Dr Budhdev Chaudhary said structured trauma management improves patient outcomes and helps reduce preventable deaths.
Nodal officer Dr Santosh Kumar highlighted the need for regular training programmes for healthcare workers involved in emergency and critical care services.
IGIMS director Dr Bindey Kumar said timely and scientific medical intervention is crucial in cases involving road accidents and severe injuries.
Deputy director Dr Vibhuti Prasanna Sinha said treatment provided during the “golden hour” often plays a decisive role in saving patients’ lives.
Participation from specialist doctors
Several specialist doctors, including Dr Ritu Singh, contributed to the training sessions.
The institute said the active participation of healthcare professionals reflected its continued focus on strengthening trauma care education and emergency medical response systems.
