Gaya :A joint team of the drug department and Bihar Police conducted a raid in Gaya district on Monday, recovering a large quantity of suspected fake and narcotic medicines from premises linked to a former Member of Parliament, officials said.
The operation was carried out in the Piparpati locality under the Kotwali police station area. Drug inspectors and local police officials remained at the site as the search operation continued through the day.
Medicines and raw materials seized
According to officials familiar with the investigation, the raid took place at a property associated with former MP Ranjit alias Run Singh in New Area Piparpanti locality.
During the operation, officials reportedly recovered suspected fake medicines, narcotic drugs and raw materials believed to have been used in pharmaceutical manufacturing. Packaging equipment and other materials considered suspicious were also seized from the premises.
Probe focuses on upper floor rooms
Sources said offices related to the animal husbandry and fisheries departments operate on the lower floor of the building, while the alleged illegal activity was suspected to be functioning from locked rooms on the upper floor.
Investigators are examining the seized materials to determine their authenticity and origin.
One detained, investigation continues
Police sources said one person has been detained in connection with the case, though the identity of the individual has not yet been officially disclosed.
Teams from multiple police stations, along with officials from the drug department, are continuing searches and verification at the site.
Senior officials are expected to brief the media after preliminary findings are reviewed. Authorities said further investigation is underway to determine whether the case is linked to a wider network involved in the circulation of fake or banned medicines.
