Patna: The Patna district administration has put in place extensive security arrangements ahead of Eid-ul-Adha (Bakrid), with magistrates and police personnel deployed at 479 locations across the district.
Officials said the measures are aimed at ensuring peaceful celebrations and maintaining law and order during the festival.
District Magistrate Dr Tyagarajan S.M. and Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya K. Sharma have instructed officials to maintain heightened vigilance in sensitive and highly sensitive areas. The administration has also directed intelligence units to remain active and monitor any attempts to spread misinformation through social media.
Authorities said strict action would be taken against anti-social elements attempting to disturb communal harmony.
Special Arrangements At Gandhi Maidan
A large gathering of worshippers is expected at Gandhi Maidan on May 28 for Bakrid prayers. In view of the crowd, the administration has made additional arrangements related to sanitation, drinking water, lighting, parking and security.
Officials said Gates 5 to 10 of Gandhi Maidan have been designated as entry points for worshippers.
The Patna Municipal Corporation has overseen cleaning and drainage work at the venue, while the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) has installed water tankers and water ATMs for public use.
Emergency Services On Standby
The administration said ambulances, doctors, fire brigade units and a temporary police station will remain stationed at Gandhi Maidan to respond to any emergency.
Authorities have appealed to residents not to pay attention to rumours and to immediately contact the District Control Room, Dial 112 or the police helpline in case of any emergency or suspicious activity.
