Gayaji: Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing arrived at Gaya International Airport on Saturday morning aboard a special aircraft and was welcomed by senior Bihar government officials before proceeding to Bodh Gaya under heightened security.

The President’s aircraft landed at approximately 8:55 AM. Bihar Governor Syed Ata Hasnain, Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, along with senior administrative and police officials, received him at the airport.

Following a formal reception and exchange of greetings, the President’s convoy left for Bodh Gaya under a comprehensive security cover.

Visit to Mahabodhi Temple

According to officials, the President is scheduled to spend time at a private hotel in Bodh Gaya before visiting the renowned Mahabodhi Temple.

During the visit, he is expected to offer prayers and tour the temple complex, one of the most significant Buddhist pilgrimage sites in the world.

Security Measures Across Bodh Gaya

Authorities implemented extensive security arrangements along the route connecting Gaya Airport and Bodh Gaya ahead of the President’s arrival.

Police personnel were deployed at key locations, while administrative officials remained on alert throughout the visit. Security presence was particularly visible around the temple complex and surrounding areas.

Officials also restricted entry for general devotees at the Mahabodhi Temple until 11:30 AM to facilitate security protocols linked to the high-level visit.

Town Placed Under Enhanced Vigilance

The area around the Bodh Gaya Temple Management Committee premises and the Mahabodhi Temple saw a significant deployment of police and administrative personnel.

Security forces were stationed along major roads and intersections, with checkpoints established at strategic locations to manage movement during the President’s visit.

Temporary Restrictions on Vendors

As part of the security arrangements, local authorities directed street vendors in several parts of Bodh Gaya to temporarily suspend operations.

Footpath shops along key stretches, including the route from Dumohan to the Mahabodhi Temple and the Pachhatti Mor area, remained closed during the visit.

Meanwhile, the Bodh Gaya Nagar Parishad intensified sanitation and cleaning efforts across the town ahead of the President’s arrival, with civic teams carrying out maintenance work in public areas.
