Patna: The Bihar government has announced plans to develop a dedicated coaching hub outside the city limits of Patna, aiming to reorganise the concentration of private coaching institutes and improve infrastructure for students and educators.
The announcement was made by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary during an event organised by the Urban Development and Housing Department. The proposal comes at a time of heightened public attention around disputes involving coaching operators in the state capital.
Coaching Hub Proposal Outside City Limits
According to the Chief Minister, the government is working on creating an organised zone where coaching institutes currently operating in congested areas of Patna can be relocated.
He said the proposed hub would include better infrastructure facilities, with the aim of improving the learning environment for students while also reducing traffic congestion in densely populated parts of the city.
Officials indicated that the initiative is part of a broader urban planning effort to streamline unregulated clusters of educational institutes and promote planned development.
Background to Recent Coaching Institute Dispute
The announcement comes amid ongoing tensions between prominent coaching operators in Patna, including Khan Sir and Roshan Anand, whose dispute has repeatedly drawn public and legal attention.
On June 4, an incident of vandalism was reported at Khan Global Studies, after which Roshan Anand was arrested and later sent to judicial custody. Subsequent developments included counter-allegations, police action, and court proceedings linked to the dispute.
Separately, a video circulating on social media led to further controversy, with allegations involving security personnel and claims exchanged between the parties. While some legal relief was later granted by the court, the matter continues to remain under public discussion.
Wider Urban Development Measures
Alongside the coaching hub proposal, the Chief Minister also outlined additional urban development measures for Patna.
He said the government plans to establish modern vegetable markets in every ward, bringing essential goods such as milk, vegetables, and fish under a single structured system to improve accessibility and organisation.
Officials have also been directed to ensure repair of roads and drainage systems before the monsoon season, with instructions to avoid initiating new excavation-based projects during heavy rainfall months.
Focus on River Cleanliness and Infrastructure Planning
The state government reiterated its focus on environmental measures, particularly the cleaning of the Ganga River. Residents have been urged to connect their households to the sewerage network so that wastewater can be treated through sewage treatment plants before discharge.
CM also referred to a larger urban expansion plan, including the development of a new township spanning 66,000 acres, designed to accommodate future population growth with planned infrastructure for education, healthcare, sanitation, and employment.
Toward Structured Urban Growth
Officials said these initiatives collectively aim to reduce unplanned urban pressure on Patna and promote a more structured model of development across Bihar.
The proposed coaching hub, along with township expansion and market reforms, is being positioned as part of a long-term strategy to transform urban centres into more organised and sustainable cities.
