Patna: The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Patna has concluded its five-day “Design Express: Summer Camp 2026”, providing school students with an immersive introduction to the worlds of fashion, design, creativity and innovation.
Held from June 15 to 19, the programme brought together young participants for a series of interactive workshops spanning Fashion Design, Textile Design, Fashion Communication, Bachelor of Fashion Technology (BFTech) and Fashion Management Studies (FMS).
The initiative was organised under the leadership of Col. Rahul Sharma, Director of NIFT Patna, as part of the institute’s efforts to promote experiential learning and encourage creative thinking among school students.
Exploring Design Through Hands-On Learning
Throughout the camp, students participated in practical sessions designed to introduce them to different aspects of the design industry.
Workshops covered a broad range of subjects, including fashion culture and representation, photography, textile dyeing and printing, fashion illustration, denim deconstruction and paper engineering.
Faculty members from various academic departments led the sessions, combining theoretical insights with hands-on activities aimed at developing artistic expression, problem-solving abilities and design sensibilities.
Organisers said the multidisciplinary format enabled students to gain a deeper understanding of how different creative disciplines intersect within the design sector.

Industry Exposure And Skill Development
The final day of the camp focused on industry awareness and personal development.
Faculty members from BFTech and Fashion Management Studies conducted sessions on the garment industry’s structure and career opportunities, while also addressing personality development and professional skills.
The sessions were led by Prof. Abhilasha, Prof. Navanendra and Dr. Rishikesh Kumar.
Students were also given an opportunity to showcase projects and creative work developed during the camp, presenting their ideas and learning outcomes before faculty members, fellow participants and parents.

Encouraging Creativity Among Young Learners
The programme concluded with an interactive session involving students and parents, followed by the distribution of certificates to participants.
Officials said the camp was designed to nurture creativity, innovation, confidence and design thinking among young learners while exposing them to potential career pathways in the creative industries.
NIFT Patna said the successful completion of the summer camp reflects the institute’s continuing commitment to engaging school students through experiential learning initiatives and fostering early interest in design education.
