Patna: Senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), including Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, will participate in yoga programmes at various locations across Bihar on International Yoga Day on Sunday.
The party said yoga sessions have been planned in districts across the state, with Union ministers, state ministers, Members of Parliament and legislators expected to take part.
According to Bihar BJP General Secretary Saroj Ranjan Patel, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary will participate in a yoga session at the Patliputra Sports Complex in Patna.
Assembly Speaker Dr. Prem Kumar is scheduled to attend a yoga camp at the Bihar Legislative Assembly complex.
Union Ministers To Join Events Across Bihar
Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh will participate in a yoga programme in Muzaffarpur.
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai is set to attend an event in Ujiarpur, while Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines Satish Chandra Dubey will join celebrations in Valmiki Nagar.
The programmes form part of nationwide observances marking International Yoga Day, which is celebrated annually on 21 June following a United Nations resolution proposed by India in 2014.
State Ministers Assigned To Different Districts
Several ministers in the Bihar government will also participate in yoga sessions in different parts of the state.
Cooperation Minister Ramkripal Yadav will attend a programme in Danapur, while Urban Development and Housing Minister Nitish Mishra will join a session at the Assembly complex in Patna.
Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari is scheduled to participate in Supaul, Labour Resources Minister Arun Shankar Prasad in Patna, Industries Minister Shreyasi Singh in Jamui and Tourism Minister Kedar Prasad Gupta in Kurhani.
Backward Classes and Extremely Backward Classes Welfare Minister Rama Nishad will attend a programme in Aurai, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Welfare Minister Lakhendra Roshan in Patepur, and Road Construction Minister Kumar Shailendra in Bihpur.
MPs And Party Leaders To Participate
Among the Members of Parliament attending yoga events are Rajiv Pratap Rudy in Amnour, Radhamohan Singh in Motihari, Janardan Singh Sigriwal in Maharajganj, Manan Mishra in Gopalganj and Shivesh Ram in Sasaram.
Former Union minister Mangal Pandey will participate in Patna, while BJP Mahila Morcha state president and MLA Nisha Singh is scheduled to attend an event in Katihar.
Nandkishore Ram, Minister for Dairy Development, Fisheries and Animal Resources, will take part in a programme in Ramnagar.
Statewide Participation Planned
The BJP said all its MLAs, MLCs and other public representatives have been asked to participate in yoga camps organised within their respective constituencies.
Party leaders said the programmes are intended to promote awareness about the benefits of yoga and encourage greater public participation in practices linked to physical and mental wellbeing.
International Yoga Day is observed annually across India and in several countries around the world through public yoga sessions, awareness campaigns and community events.
