Patna: More than 156,000 candidates are set to appear for the NEET-UG re-examination across Bihar on Sunday, with authorities implementing extensive security measures and heightened surveillance to ensure the examination is conducted smoothly.

According to official figures, 156,061 candidates will take the test at 331 examination centres spread across 35 cities in the state. Of these, 81,165 are male candidates and 74,896 are female candidates.

Patna accounts for the largest share of examinees, with 95 centres established in the city to accommodate 46,029 candidates.

Entry Restrictions And Security Checks

The examination will be conducted from 2 pm to 5:15 pm.

Authorities have directed candidates to reach their centres well in advance, noting that entry gates will close at 1:30 pm and no candidate will be permitted to enter after the deadline.

Comprehensive security screening will be carried out at all centres before candidates are allowed to enter examination halls.

Officials said security arrangements have been strengthened across the state to prevent any irregularities and ensure a fair examination process.

Question Papers Transported Under Tight Security

The question papers for the re-examination were brought to Patna on 16 June aboard a special Indian Air Force aircraft.

Following their arrival, the papers were transferred to designated officials under strict security protocols.

Authorities also oversaw the secure transportation of examination materials to centres in Darbhanga and Gaya in addition to those in Patna.

The re-examination follows the earlier NEET-UG examination, after allegations of a paper leak prompted authorities to order a fresh test for affected candidates.

Coaching Institutes Ordered To Remain Closed

The Patna district administration has remained on high alert ahead of the examination.

Officials have instructed coaching institutes in the city to remain closed on the day of the test.

The District Magistrate has directed Sub-Divisional Officers (SDOs) and Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs) to closely monitor coaching centres and take immediate action if any suspicious activity is detected.

Mock Drills Conducted Across Examination Centres

On Saturday, authorities conducted mock drills at examination centres throughout the state to test security and logistical arrangements.

The exercises included trial runs for candidate entry procedures, examination material distribution and emergency response systems.

Special attention was given to the Bapu Pariksha Parisar in Kumhrar, Patna, which is the state’s largest examination centre.

More than 7,500 candidates are expected to appear for the test at the venue.

Officials inspected security deployments, crowd management plans and logistical arrangements around the centre ahead of the examination.

Traffic Restrictions Around Major Centres

To minimise disruption and ensure smooth movement of candidates, authorities have imposed traffic restrictions near key examination venues.

Commercial vehicles have been barred from operating on the main road in front of the Bapu Pariksha Parisar during examination hours.

Traffic plans have also been revised on several adjoining roads to accommodate the large number of students and accompanying guardians expected to gather around the centres.

Social Media Monitoring Intensified

The administration has constituted flying squads to conduct surprise inspections and respond to any untoward incidents during the examination.

Officials also said social media platforms will be closely monitored throughout the day.

Any individual found spreading rumours, sharing misleading information or attempting to influence the examination process could face immediate legal action, including the registration of an FIR.

Authorities have appealed to the public to refrain from circulating unverified information and to cooperate in ensuring the smooth conduct of the examination.

The NEET-UG re-examination is one of the largest competitive tests being conducted in Bihar this year and comes amid heightened scrutiny following the controversy surrounding the earlier examination process.
