Patna: The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Patna Women’s College (Autonomous) on June 22 inaugurated a five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) titled “Transforming Educators: Teaching as Vocation; Research; AI; Life Skills”.
The programme aims to strengthen academic capacity among faculty members by focusing on evolving pedagogical approaches, research practices, artificial intelligence tools and holistic skill development.
Inaugural Session and Opening Rituals
The inaugural session began with a prayer followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp, setting a formal tone for the programme.
Principal Dr. Sister M. Rashmi A.C. addressed the gathering and highlighted the deeper purpose of teaching.
“Teaching is not merely a profession; it is a vocation that demands profound commitment and passion,” she said, adding that educators must adapt to changing academic environments to guide students effectively in a competitive landscape.

Focus on Academic Modernisation
The resource person was formally felicitated by Vice Principal Sister M. Tanisha A.C..
Programme convenor Dr. Amrita Chowdhury underlined the growing role of technology in education.
“Teachers must be well-equipped with AI tools to better connect with their students and enhance the learning experience,” she said.
Technical Session on Teaching as Vocation
After a brief tea break, the programme moved to Technical Session 1 led by NMKRV College for Women Assistant Professor Dr. Sinduja C.V.
She delivered a session on “Teaching as a vocation and the role of teachers in the present competitive education system,” focusing on evolving responsibilities of educators and the need for sustained commitment to student development.
Moderation and Academic Emphasis
The session was moderated by Dr. Sahar Rahman, who also emphasised the importance of integrating modern technology in classrooms to improve learning outcomes.

She noted the relevance of AI tools in strengthening teacher-student engagement and enhancing academic delivery in contemporary education settings.
Vote of Thanks and Conclusion
The inaugural session concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Alok John.
He described the FDP as a significant step towards empowering faculty with multidisciplinary competencies, including AI proficiency, mindfulness and adaptive teaching skills required for academic transformation at Patna Women’s College (Autonomous).
