Patna: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a significant increase in monsoon activity across Bihar over the next three to four days, raising the prospect of widespread rainfall and relief from the prolonged spell of hot and humid weather.
According to the Patna Meteorological Centre, most parts of the state are expected to receive good rainfall after 27 June as moisture from the Bay of Bengal and a strengthening monsoon trough become more active. Temperatures are likely to fall by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius during this period.
Orange Alert Issued For Several Districts
The IMD on Friday issued an orange alert for 13 districts, warning of thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds with speeds of 50 to 60 kmph.
Rainfall was reported during the morning from parts of Patna, Sitamarhi, Samastipur, Siwan, Gopalganj, Bagaha and Bhagalpur.
The department has advised residents to remain cautious during thunderstorms and avoid open areas during lightning activity.
Four-Day Weather Forecast
June 27:
An orange alert has been issued for 12 districts, while the remaining districts are under a yellow alert. Hot and humid conditions are expected to persist in parts of Rohtas, Bhojpur and Buxar, although rainfall activity is likely to increase elsewhere.
June 28:
The IMD expects monsoon activity to strengthen further across the state. An orange alert has been issued for 26 districts and a yellow alert for the remaining districts. Moderate to heavy rainfall is forecast in many areas, accompanied by strong winds and lightning.

June 29:
A yellow alert has been issued for the entire state, including Patna. Rain accompanied by gusty winds is likely in several districts, particularly in north Bihar.
June 30:
Heavy rainfall is forecast in Araria, Kishanganj and Supaul, while light rain is expected in Patna and several adjoining districts.
Monsoon Expected To Expand Across Bihar
Meteorologists said the southwest monsoon has already reached most parts of Bihar, although its intensity remains uneven across districts.
The continued inflow of moisture from the Bay of Bengal and the strengthening of the monsoon trough are expected to expand rainfall coverage over the coming days.
According to the IMD, most parts of Bihar are likely to receive widespread rainfall during the final week of June and the beginning of July, providing relief from the recent spell of high temperatures and humidity while benefiting the ongoing agricultural season.
