Patna: A technical failure at Bihar Police headquarters has disrupted several online services, affecting the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) and other digital police operations across the state.
According to police officials, the problem was caused by a server hard disk failure, leading to the suspension of multiple online services, including the registration of online FIRs and access to the citizen services portal.
Online FIRs and case uploads affected
The outage has prevented police stations from uploading FIRs and case diaries through the online system. Data exchange between the police headquarters, courts, jails and other government agencies has also been affected.
Officials said the disruption has impacted routine policing and judicial processes that rely on digital data sharing.
Citizen services portal unavailable
The Bihar Police citizen services portal is currently inaccessible, affecting members of the public seeking online police services. Online FIR registration has also been disrupted until the technical issue is resolved.
NIC engineers working to restore system
According to the Additional Director General (Modernisation), the disruption is linked to a server malfunction. Engineers from the National Informatics Centre (NIC) have been called in from Mumbai to address the problem and restore services.
Efforts under way to normalise operations
Senior officials at the police headquarters are monitoring the situation and working to restore normal operations at the earliest. Officials said emergency response services, including Dial 112, are continuing, although some technical coordination issues have also been reported during the outage.
The police have said efforts are under way to resolve the server issue and resume all online services as soon as possible.
