Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary visited the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Patna on Sunday to review healthcare services, inspect key medical facilities and assess the institute’s proposed expansion plan.
During the visit, the Chief Minister toured several departments and held discussions with doctors and officials on the functioning of the institute and its future infrastructure requirements.
Inspection Of Key Healthcare Facilities
Choudhary visited the Burn Centre, Outpatient Department (OPD), Nuclear Medicine Department, Inpatient Department (IPD) and other patient care units.
According to AIIMS Patna, he interacted with doctors, healthcare professionals and administrative officials to review the quality of medical services and understand the operational requirements of different departments.

Expansion Plan Reviewed
A key focus of the visit was the inspection of land earmarked for the proposed expansion of AIIMS Patna.
Officials briefed the Chief Minister on plans to develop new clinical blocks, advanced treatment facilities and additional infrastructure for medical education and research.
According to the institute, the proposed expansion is expected to add nearly 200 hospital beds, increasing the institute’s capacity to treat more patients from Bihar and neighbouring states.
Government Assures Support
During the visit, Choudhary said the state government would extend all possible support for the expansion of AIIMS Patna.
According to the institute, he said the proposed development would strengthen tertiary healthcare services in Bihar and improve access to advanced medical treatment.
Review Meeting Held
The visit concluded with a review meeting on ongoing projects, infrastructure requirements and the institute’s long-term development plans.
The Chief Minister was received by AIIMS Patna Executive Director Prof. (Brig.) Dr Raju Agarwal, along with the Medical Superintendent, Deputy Director (Administration), senior administrative officers, faculty members and other officials.
During the meeting, AIIMS Patna officials presented the institute’s achievements, ongoing initiatives, operational requirements and proposed expansion plans. According to the institute, the discussions focused on strengthening healthcare infrastructure and expanding patient care, medical education and research facilities in the state.
