Patna: The Bihar government has sent a requisition to the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) to fill 927 teaching posts in Plus Two girls’ residential schools run by the Backward Classes (BC) and Extremely Backward Classes (EBC) Welfare Department.
BC and EBC Welfare Minister Rama Nishad announced the decision at a press conference on July 8 while presenting the department’s achievements for 2025–26. She said the recruitment would be carried out through the fourth phase of the Teachers Recruitment Examination (TRE-4).
927 Posts To Be Filled Through TRE-4
According to the minister, the requisition has already been submitted to the BPSC to fill vacancies in Plus Two girls’ residential schools across the state.
She also said that 438 teachers have already been appointed against previously sanctioned posts. These include 15 principals, 173 higher secondary teachers, 119 secondary teachers and 131 primary teachers.
Residential Schools Planned At Sub-Divisional Level
The minister announced that the government plans to establish Plus Two residential schools for both girls and boys at the sub-divisional level.
At present, the state operates 39 Plus Two girls’ residential schools at the district level. The proposed expansion includes 520-bed residential schools for girls and 720-bed residential schools for boys at sub-divisional headquarters.
Nishad said the proposal is under process and the government aims to make the new schools operational during the current academic session.
New JNKT Hostels Proposed
The department has also initiated the process to construct 100-bed Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur (JNKT) hostels for girls at district and sub-divisional levels and for boys at the divisional level.
According to the department, 100-bed JNKT hostels for girls and boys have been functioning in all 38 districts since 2008-09. Together, these hostels have a capacity of 3,800 students, with 2,962 currently enrolled.
Proposal For Sainik Schools And Student Support
Nishad said the department is preparing a proposal to establish 10 Sainik schools for students from the backward classes category.
She also announced plans to launch an online portal through which students and members of the public can submit complaints and suggestions regarding departmental schemes.
In addition, the department is preparing the Mukhyamantri Pichhra Varg Evam Ati Pichhra Varg Abhyuday Yojana, under which students will receive financial assistance and coaching for competitive examinations such as CLAT and NIFT, as well as support for pursuing higher education abroad.
Proposal For Laptop Assistance
The minister said she has requested both the Union and Bihar governments to provide laptops worth up to Rs 50,000 to eligible girl students.
According to Nishad, the proposal is intended to benefit students preparing for recruitment in the police and fire services, as well as those pursuing Intermediate or technical education.
Additional Chief Secretary K Senthil Kumar, Additional Secretary Anil Kumar Thakur and Joint Secretary Rishi Kumar were also present at the press conference.
