Patna: The southwest monsoon remains active across Bihar, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting another day of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and gusty winds on Wednesday, July 15.
According to the latest forecast issued by the Patna Meteorological Centre, weather conditions are expected to be particularly severe in Seemanchal and parts of north-eastern Bihar, where heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely.
The weather office has urged residents to remain indoors during periods of intense rain and avoid unnecessary travel.
Very Heavy Rain Forecast In Two Districts
The IMD has forecast very heavy rainfall in:
- Araria
- Kishanganj
Residents in these districts have been advised to remain alert, as prolonged rainfall could lead to waterlogging and localised flooding.
Heavy Rain Alert For Four More Districts
A heavy rainfall alert has also been issued for:
- Katihar
- Purnia
- Supaul
- Madhubani
Officials said continuous rainfall could disrupt normal life, particularly in low-lying areas vulnerable to flooding.
Thunderstorms And Strong Winds Expected
The IMD has also warned of thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 30–40 kmph across parts of north and south-eastern Bihar.
People have been advised to stay away from open fields, isolated trees, electric poles and waterlogged areas during thunderstorms.

Rain Likely Across Large Parts Of Bihar
Rainfall is expected in several districts of north-eastern Bihar, including:
- Araria
- Kishanganj
- Purnia
- Katihar
- Supaul
- Saharsa
- Madhepura
Meanwhile, light to moderate rain is also likely at isolated places in Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, West Champaran and East Champaran in north-west Bihar.
Most districts in south Bihar are expected to receive light rainfall.
No Major Temperature Change Expected
Despite widespread rainfall, the IMD has not forecast any significant change in temperatures over the next few days.
Maximum temperatures are expected to remain between 30°C and 32°C across north Bihar, while south Bihar is likely to record highs of 32°C to 34°C.
Authorities Issue Safety Advisory
The IMD warned that persistent rainfall could raise river water levels and increase the risk of waterlogging in low-lying areas.
Residents have been advised to avoid riverbanks during heavy rain and follow instructions issued by local authorities in case of emergencies.
