Patna: Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor on Sunday said his party would welcome the CJP in Bihar if it worked on issues affecting students, as he used a press conference in Patna to criticise the government’s approach to education, youth concerns and democratic dissent.
Addressing reporters, Kishor said Jan Suraaj would stand with any individual or organisation that sought to challenge what he described as the government’s “undemocratic attitude and functioning”.
‘We Will Welcome CJP’
Responding to questions about the CJP, Kishor said the organisation would be welcome in Bihar if its activities focused on student welfare.
“If CJP activists come to Bihar and work on issues concerning students, they will be welcomed,” he said, adding that the movement for students’ rights should not be viewed through a partisan political lens.
Remarks On Sonam Wangchuk
Kishor also referred to environmentalist and education reform advocate Sonam Wangchuk, describing him as a personal friend.
He claimed that Wangchuk had previously been detained in Ladakh and later held in a jail in Jaipur for several months.
Kishor said Wangchuk had consistently worked on issues relating to students and society, and argued that expressing views from any political platform was part of the democratic process.
‘This Is A People’s Movement’
Kishor said the ongoing protests were driven by public concerns rather than support for any individual political leader.
“When people stand up for their rights, those in power are compelled to change their decisions,” he said.
According to him, students had taken to the streets over issues such as alleged examination paper leaks, unemployment and corruption in the education system, rather than to support any political party.

Calls For Accountability
Kishor described the reported resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan as the beginning of political accountability, alleging that public pressure had forced the government to act.
He argued that while opposition parties may appear weak, “the opposition of the people” in a democracy can never be weak.
He further claimed that sustained public pressure would continue to compel governments to respond to people’s demands.
Focus On Education Reform
Kishor said meaningful reform of the education system would be possible only if education became a priority for the government.
He alleged that the current system gave greater emphasis to expanding ideological influence than improving educational quality.
Referring to recent controversies over alleged examination paper leaks, he said there was now an expectation that the new Education Minister would work towards creating a transparent education system free from malpractice.
