Patna: The Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (BUIDCO) is set to develop three modern parks in Mithapur, Kidwaipuri and Patliputra as part of a project aimed at expanding green spaces and improving public recreational facilities in Patna. According to BUIDCO, the projects will involve an investment of Rs 4.76 crore, with construction expected to begin soon.
The planned parks are intended to provide residents with spaces for exercise, leisure and community activities while enhancing the appearance of the surrounding neighbourhoods. Officials said the projects have been finalised and are expected to benefit people of all age groups.
What The Project Includes
According to BUIDCO, the three parks will feature facilities such as walking tracks, open gyms, children’s play areas, yoga spaces and improved lighting. The projects are also expected to address the shortage of accessible public green spaces in densely populated parts of the city.
The corporation said each park has been designed to meet the recreational needs of local residents while improving the urban environment.
Mithapur To Get South Patna’s Largest New Park
The largest of the three projects will be developed in Mithapur, on the southern side of the New Bypass, opposite the old bus stand. BUIDCO plans to spend Rs 1.85 crore on the park, which will extend approximately 138 metres in length and 27 metres in width.
According to the project plan, the park will include a pond, a selfie point, an open gym, a yoga shed, a children’s play area, public toilets and dedicated walking paths. High-mast lighting, decorative murals and an improved drainage system are also proposed to enhance safety and aesthetics.
Kidwaipuri Park To Be Renovated
The existing Kidwaipuri Park in Adarsh Colony, near Thakur Prasad Community Hall in Ward 25, will undergo redevelopment at a cost of Rs 1.67 crore.
BUIDCO said the renovated park will feature a water fountain, a yoga shed, upgraded pathways, children’s play equipment and high-mast lighting. The project will also incorporate Mithila-style artwork as part of its landscaping and beautification efforts.
New Park Planned In Patliputra
A third park will be developed in Bank of India Colony in Ward 5 of the Patliputra zone. The project, estimated to cost Rs 1.22 crore, will cover an area measuring around 32 metres by 17 metres.
According to officials, the park will include modern recreational and fitness facilities designed for children, adults and senior citizens, with an emphasis on creating an accessible neighbourhood green space.
Who Is Expected To Benefit?
BUIDCO said all three parks will provide facilities for yoga, exercise, walking and children’s recreation. The projects are expected to improve access to public open spaces in neighbourhoods where such amenities have been limited.
Children, senior citizens and regular morning and evening walkers are likely to be among the primary beneficiaries once the parks become operational.
What’s Next
Construction work is expected to commence shortly after the completion of administrative formalities. Once completed, the three parks will add new public green spaces to Patna and expand recreational infrastructure in Mithapur, Kidwaipuri and Patliputra, according to BUIDCO.
The projects form part of ongoing efforts to improve urban infrastructure and public amenities across the Bihar capital while encouraging outdoor recreation and community use of green spaces.
