Patna: The Bihar Transport Department is preparing special bus services from Delhi and other states to help migrant workers and other Bihar residents return home during Dussehra and Chhath.
The move is aimed at easing pressure on trains and regular bus services, which face a sharp increase in passenger demand during the festive season.
Special Buses From Delhi And Other States
According to the Transport Department, special buses will be operated from Delhi and other major states and cities to different districts of Bihar.
The department has begun coordinating with concerned state authorities and bus operators. Special arrangements are also being planned for passengers travelling from Delhi to Bihar under the directions of the Delhi government.
Departmental sources said services are being planned from states including Haryana, Punjab, Maharashtra and Gujarat.
Festive Rush Creates Travel Challenges
Passenger demand for Bihar-bound services rises significantly during Dussehra and Chhath, with many migrant workers returning to their native districts to spend the festivals with their families.
The increase in demand often results in overcrowded trains and buses and limited availability of tickets. Many passengers book their journeys well in advance to secure seats.
The Transport Department makes additional transport arrangements during the festive season to reduce the pressure on regular services and provide alternative travel options.
Routes And Fares To Be Finalised
The department said details of the special services, including routes, bus availability, fares and schedules, will be finalised ahead of the festive period.
Passengers will be informed about the arrangements in advance so they can plan their journeys accordingly.
The proposed services are expected to connect major migrant destinations with various districts in Bihar and provide an additional option for people travelling home during Dussehra and Chhath.
