Patna: Bihar is set to witness a notable change in weather from October 23, with strong winds and rain predicted across various districts.

According to the Meteorological Department, wind speeds between 20 to 40 kilometers per hour are expected from October 23 to 26. This shift in weather comes with the possibility of rain, particularly in certain parts of the state.

The department has also indicated a potential cyclonic formation in the Bay of Bengal on October 23, creating conditions for a cyclonic circulation. As a result, temperatures are likely to drop, bringing mild cold to the region.

80% Rain Deficit in Post-Monsoon Season

So far, Bihar has recorded significantly lower rainfall this post-monsoon season. According to data from the Meteorological Center in Patna, the state has received just 12 mm of rainfall, which is 80% less than the usual average for this period. In the last 24 hours, sporadic to moderate rainfall was reported in West Champaran, Shivhar, and Sitamarhi.

Air Quality Deteriorates in Patna and Hajipur

Air pollution levels have been rising in districts across Bihar, including Patna, due to the moisture in the air. The presence of dust particles has further worsened air quality, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at concerning levels. In the past 24 hours, Patna’s AQI was 220, Hajipur’s was 231, and Rajgir’s AQI reached 259.

Temperature Overview Across Districts

On Monday, Khagaria emerged as the hottest district, recording a maximum temperature of 35.5°C. Other districts experienced the following temperatures: Patna (32.8°C), Gaya (32.7°C), Supaul (33.3°C), Rohtas (32.8°C), Motihari (33.6°C), Sheikhpura (33.3°C), Madhepura (33.6°C), Buxar (34.4°C), Vaishali (32.8°C), Aurangabad (30.3°C), Begusarai (33.4°C), Bhagalpur (30.8°C), Nawada (34°C), and Nalanda (30°C).
