Patna: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced plans to build the Moinul Haque Stadium in Patna, which will feature an international-standard facility with a seating capacity of 40,000 spectators. The project, which also includes 250 VIP seats and 76 corporate boxes, received approval during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, where a total of 25 agendas were discussed.
The new stadium will include 70 five-star hotel-like rooms and a restaurant, with additional sports facilities planned for the surrounding area. After 60 years, the BCCI and the Bihar government will share the stadium’s earnings equally.
In another significant decision, a Bihar Bhawan will be constructed in Mumbai, with the state government allocating Rs 5 crore 92 lakh as stamp duty for the land designated for this new facility.
The cabinet also approved an investment of Rs 181.76 crore for the repair and lining of the Tirhut main canal. Additionally, the Water Resources Department will oversee repairs to the Saran embankment, which is expected to cost Rs 60.92 crore.
Furthermore, Home Guard jawans and inspectors will now receive leave benefits similar to those of non-gazetted employees of the Bihar Police, which include an additional month’s salary each year.
