Patna: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Patna, marked the 80th Independence Day with a flag-hoisting ceremony, Guard of Honour and cultural programmes at its Administrative Block.
The National Flag was hoisted by Prof. (Brig.) Dr Raju Agarwal, Executive Director and CEO of AIIMS Patna, followed by the National Anthem. Senior officials, doctors, faculty members, MBBS students, nursing officers and other staff members attended the programme.

Guard of Honour Held at AIIMS Patna
A ceremonial Guard of Honour was presented to the Executive Director by the parade contingent.
Agarwal subsequently inspected the parade, with the ceremony highlighting the discipline and participation of the institute’s staff and students.
Addressing the gathering, Agarwal paid tribute to freedom fighters and national leaders and spoke about the role of healthcare institutions in nation-building.
He urged the AIIMS Patna fraternity to continue focusing on patient care, medical education, research and innovation while maintaining a commitment to service and professional integrity.
Liver Transplant Team Recognised
During the Independence Day programme, certificates of appreciation were presented to members of the team involved in performing AIIMS Patna’s first living donor liver transplant.
The institute said the recognition acknowledged the contribution of clinical and support teams involved in the procedure.
The achievement was described by the institute as an important step in expanding its advanced transplant and tertiary healthcare capabilities.
Students Perform Patriotic Songs and Dances
The celebrations also featured patriotic songs and dance performances by children and students.
A ceremonial patriotic band performance was held as part of the programme, adding to the day’s cultural events on the AIIMS Patna campus.
Patriotic Film Screened at AIIMS Auditorium
A patriotic film was also screened at the AIIMS Patna Auditorium.
The screening brought together students, staff and members of the AIIMS community as part of the Independence Day programme.
AIIMS Patna Reaffirms Focus on Healthcare and Research
The institute said the participation of doctors, faculty members, students, nursing officers, administrative officials and other employees reflected the collective involvement of the AIIMS Patna community.
The celebrations concluded with the institute reiterating its stated focus on healthcare, medical education, research and innovation, along with values of service, discipline and compassion.
