PATNA: Raksha Bandhan turned into a lifelong memory for Ragini, a Class 11 science student from Bihar, when she got the opportunity to tie a handmade Rakhi to Chief Justice of India Surya Kant at the Supreme Court.
Ragini, who originally belongs to Jiradei village in Siwan district, is currently studying at Government Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya in West Vinod Nagar, Delhi. Jiradei is also known as the birthplace of Dr Rajendra Prasad, India’s first President.
The student had expressed her wish to personally tie a handmade Rakhi to the Chief Justice of India. Her request eventually reached CJI Surya Kant, who directed that a special Raksha Bandhan celebration be organised at the Supreme Court’s Judges’ Lounge.
Ragini Meets CJI Surya Kant
During the celebration, Ragini tied the Rakhi to CJI Surya Kant and interacted with him. For the student, it was also her first visit to the Supreme Court.
Ragini said the Chief Justice’s simple and approachable personality left a deep impression on her. She said the interaction gave her an opportunity to learn valuable lessons about life and encouraged her to incorporate those values into her own journey.
The meeting also gave the young student an opportunity to experience the functioning and atmosphere of the country’s highest court.
CJI’s Autograph Becomes a Cherished Keepsake
The special occasion became even more memorable when Ragini received an autograph from CJI Surya Kant.
She plans to preserve the autograph as a lifelong keepsake of the day she visited the Supreme Court and met the Chief Justice.
Describing her first visit to the Supreme Court, Ragini said the experience felt almost unreal. As the escort vehicle passed through the security gates and entered the Supreme Court complex, she felt as though she had stepped into a dream.
‘A Dream Come True’
The Raksha Bandhan celebration was followed by refreshments for the participating students.
Ragini returned from the Supreme Court with more than just the memory of tying a Rakhi to the CJI. For the young student, the visit became an opportunity to meet one of the country’s highest constitutional authorities, receive words of encouragement and take away life lessons that she hopes will guide her future.
For a student from Jiradei, the village associated with India’s first President, the Raksha Bandhan visit to the Supreme Court has become a particularly meaningful chapter in her life.
