Patna: Extra-C will mark Hindi Diwas with “Bhartiya Goodh Varg Paheli 2026”, a Hindi-language edition of the popular cryptic crossword competition aimed at showcasing the language’s richness, versatility and creative potential.
Hindi Diwas is observed annually on September 14. The competition seeks to present Hindi in a format that combines language, logic, creativity and problem-solving, encouraging students, teachers and language enthusiasts to engage with the language beyond conventional reading and writing.
More than a conventional crossword
Unlike a conventional crossword, a cryptic crossword requires participants to interpret clues using linguistic knowledge, wordplay and logical reasoning.
According to Extra-C, solving such puzzles can help participants develop vocabulary, concentration, analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities while encouraging them to approach complex questions from different perspectives.

- Results announced: October 3, 2026, at 10am

How to participate
Participants can register by visiting crypticsingh.com and creating an account. During the competition period, they will need to log in using their registered account.
A PDF containing the competition question paper will be made available after login. Participants must download the paper, solve the cryptic crossword clues and complete the required information and answers.
The completed response must be submitted according to the instructions provided on the website within the stipulated deadline. Entries submitted after the closing time will not be accepted.
