Patna: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has destroyed seized drugs valued at Rs 4.54 crore in Patna, as part of its efforts to prevent confiscated narcotics from returning to circulation and to disrupt drug trafficking networks.

According to an official statement, the action reflects the agency’s continued focus on strengthening enforcement against the illegal drug trade and supporting the broader objective of a drug-free India.

Public Asked To Share Information On Drug Activities

The NCB has also appealed to citizens to support efforts against drug trafficking by sharing information related to narcotics through the Manas helpline at 1933.

The agency said the identity of people providing information would be kept strictly confidential. The helpline is intended to allow citizens to report information that could assist agencies in identifying and disrupting drug-related networks.

NCB Steps Up Coordination Against Drug Trafficking

As part of its wider enforcement and outreach activities, the NCB has also been working to strengthen coordination with other agencies and stakeholders.

On August 31, the NCB’s Mumbai unit organised a seminar at the Cytek Centre in Mumbai on the Voluntary Code of Conduct (VCC) for precursor chemicals and other chemicals under its national outreach programme.

The seminar focused on explaining the objectives of the voluntary code to participants. The NCB’s Deputy Director General (South Western Region) chaired the programme, while the DDG and the Additional Director of NCB Mumbai addressed the gathering. Representatives of industry and trade associations also shared their views on the VCC.

Joint Coordination To Tackle Emerging Threats

On September 1, the NCB organised a quarterly State-Level Joint Coordination Committee meeting in Port Blair for the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

The meeting was aimed at strengthening coordination among agencies to respond to emerging narcotics-related threats.

Officials from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Customs, Income Tax Department, CGST, Indian Coast Guard, CISF and Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) participated in the meeting.

Discussions covered emerging methods used by drug traffickers, inter-agency coordination, financial investigations, intelligence sharing and effective enforcement strategies. The meeting also focused on network-oriented investigations and sharing best practices among enforcement agencies.

The destruction of the Rs 4.54 crore worth of seized drugs in Patna, along with the NCB’s appeal through the 1933 helpline, forms part of the agency’s broader efforts to strengthen action against narcotics trafficking and encourage public participation in tackling the illegal drug trade.
