Begusarai/Patna: Three videos allegedly showing a young woman being assaulted inside a hotel room in Begusarai city have prompted a police investigation after the woman alleged in her complaint that she was raped following the assault.
Town police have registered a named FIR against Rohit Kumar, a resident of the Bhagwanpur police station area, and are conducting raids at suspected locations to arrest him.
Woman Alleges Assault, Rape
According to the complaint submitted to police, the incident occurred on September 27 after the woman left home for some work.
She alleged that a man known to her took her on a motorcycle to a hotel located along the National Highway within the jurisdiction of Town police station.
According to her complaint, she was then left with Rohit Kumar, who allegedly took her into a room and closed the door. The woman alleged that she was assaulted and subsequently raped inside the room.
The alleged assault appears to have been recorded on video, and the footage has been handed over to police.
Woman Reaches Police Station
According to the complaint, the woman managed to escape from the hotel room.
She reached Town police station late on September 28, a day after the alleged incident, and reported the matter to police.
Following her complaint, police registered an FIR and began examining the videos and other evidence connected with the case.
Hotel Management Under Investigation
Town SHO Satish Kumar Himanshu said police had received information about an incident involving the assault and harassment of a woman inside a hotel room and had obtained videos related to the case.
He said a named FIR had been registered against Rohit Kumar and that a special police team was conducting raids to apprehend him.
Police are also investigating the role of the hotel management and staff. Investigators are checking whether identity documents and other required records were verified when the room was booked.
Hotel registers and CCTV footage are being examined, while staff members are also being questioned to determine whether management or employees received any information about the alleged incident while it was taking place.
Police will also examine whether there was any negligence by the hotel management or staff based on the evidence gathered during the investigation.
The investigation is ongoing, and further action will be taken based on the evidence available to police.
