Patna : Bihar Police has launched the Online Cyber Hackathon 2026 to promote technological innovation and develop solutions to combat cybercrime. Organised by the Cyber Crime and Security Unit (CCSU), the competition invites college students to develop technology-based solutions to five challenges related to cybersecurity and digital investigations.
The winners will receive cash prizes of up to Rs 1.5 lakh. Special Task Force (STF) Director General Kundan Krishnan inaugurated the competition on Monday and launched its official website, through which registrations have opened.
Interested students can register and submit their proposed technical solutions by October 26, 2026.
How To Register For Bihar Cyber Hackathon 2026
Students interested in participating can register through the official website: cyberhackathon.bihar.gov.in.
The registration process is open until October 26. Participants must also submit their developed technical solutions by the same deadline.
After submission, experts from the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) and the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) will screen the entries. The screening process is scheduled to conclude by November 20, while the winners will be announced on November 28, 2026.
Cash Prizes Of Up To Rs 1.5 Lakh
The competition will reward participants whose solutions demonstrate potential to address the identified cybersecurity challenges.
The prize structure is as follows:
- First prize: Rs 1.5 lakh
- Second prize: Rs 1 lakh
- Third prize: Rs 50,000
The initiative aims to encourage students to apply their technical knowledge to real-world problems and develop digital tools that could assist law enforcement agencies in preventing and investigating cybercrime.
Five Cybersecurity Challenges For Participants
The hackathon focuses on five problem statements. Participants are expected to develop technical models or solutions addressing these areas.
- Identifying Mule Bank Accounts
Participants will work on methods to identify mule bank accounts used to move or receive money linked to financial fraud. Such accounts can complicate efforts to trace transactions and identify those responsible for cybercrime.
- AI-Based Security Testing Of Android Apps
The second challenge involves using artificial intelligence to identify security vulnerabilities in Android applications. Solutions could help detect weaknesses that may expose users or their data to security risks.
- Detecting Disinformation On Social Media
Participants will be encouraged to develop tools that can identify organised campaigns spreading misleading information on social media platforms.
The focus is on using technology to detect potentially coordinated disinformation and support the analysis of online content.
- Analysing Public Grievances
Another challenge concerns the analysis of public complaints and monitoring their resolution. Participants will develop solutions that could help organise complaints, identify patterns and track their disposal more efficiently.
- Verifying The Authenticity Of Digital Evidence
The fifth problem statement focuses on developing tools to assess the authenticity and reliability of digital evidence. Such solutions could support digital investigations by helping investigators examine whether electronic records and other digital material are genuine and trustworthy.
Senior Police And C-DAC Officials Attend Launch
Several senior officials attended the inauguration, including CCSU Inspector General Ranjit Kumar Mishra, Deputy Inspector General Avakash Kumar, Cyber SP Chandra Prakash and C-DAC Patna Director Abhinav Dixit.
The participation of technical experts and law enforcement officials reflects the initiative’s focus on combining technological expertise with practical cybersecurity requirements.
Aim To Develop Technology-Based Solutions To Cybercrime
Through Cyber Hackathon 2026, Bihar Police aims to give college students an opportunity to demonstrate their technical skills while working on challenges relevant to cybercrime prevention, online financial fraud and digital investigations.
The solutions developed during the competition could help identify suspicious financial activity, examine application security, analyse online misinformation, improve grievance monitoring and strengthen the verification of digital evidence.
Students interested in participating should review the official website and complete their registration and solution submissions by October 26, 2026.
