Patna, October 12: The Bihar Energy Department has taken disciplinary action against a Junior Electrical Engineer of North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (NBPDCL) for alleged negligence in the discharge of duties, lack of promptness in consumer services and absence from the workplace.

The suspended engineer, Sujit Kumar, was posted in KumarKhand (North). According to an official press release issued on October 12, the action was taken over his alleged irresponsible approach to work and failure to perform his duties as required.

NBPDCL MD Warns Against Negligence

North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited Managing Director Rahul Kumar (IAS) said negligence, indiscipline and indifference towards consumer services would not be tolerated.

He emphasised that providing better and timely electricity services to consumers remains a priority for the department.

The department has reiterated that employees are expected to perform their responsibilities diligently and respond promptly to public complaints.

Sahyog Camps Under Close Monitoring

The Energy Department said that, following the directions of the Chief Minister, it and the power distribution companies are working to ensure the timely resolution of complaints received at Sahyog Camps.

Complaints received through these camps are being monitored, with necessary action being taken at different levels to ensure their resolution.

The initiative is intended to improve public access to electricity-related grievance redressal and strengthen accountability within the power distribution system.

Department Warns of Strict Action Against Officials

The Energy Department has made it clear that negligence, indifference or indiscipline in providing electricity services will invite disciplinary action against the personnel concerned, in accordance with applicable rules.

The department said such action would continue in the future to ensure accountability and improve service delivery.

The suspension of the junior engineer forms part of the department’s stated effort to enforce discipline and make electricity services more responsive to consumers.
