Patna: Railway General Manager Dimpy Garg inspected the five terminal platforms under construction at Harding Park, near Patna Junction, on October 22, 2026, and reviewed the progress of work under Phase 1.
During the inspection, Garg examined the obstacles affecting construction and offered suggestions to resolve them. He directed officials to ensure that buildings and permanent structures being developed under Phase 1 are designed to accommodate Phase 2 construction without requiring subsequent modifications.
The General Manager also inspected the foot overbridge (FOB) currently under construction at the site.
Five Platforms To Improve Train Operations
The completion of the five terminal platforms is expected to improve operational efficiency at Patna Junction by allowing better train scheduling and reducing turnaround times.
The new terminal is also expected to help ease train congestion and reduce passenger crowding at Patna Junction. It will facilitate the smoother operation of mail and express trains on the main line.
Underground Connectivity And Metro Link Planned
All platforms at the new terminal will have underground connectivity. The terminal is also expected to connect directly with the under-construction Metro rail network, the road network and the newly developed multi-modal transport hub.
The project is intended to strengthen transport connectivity around Patna Junction and improve the movement of passengers between different modes of transport.
Garg’s inspection focused on resolving construction-related obstacles and ensuring that the structures being developed during the first phase are compatible with the planned second phase.
