Patna : The Bihar government has suspended Danapur Sub-Registrar Kumari Sweety in a disproportionate assets case following allegations that she and her husband accumulated assets beyond their known sources of income.
The Prohibition, Excise and Registration Department issued the suspension notification on Thursday, nearly a month after the Vigilance Investigation Bureau conducted raids at locations linked to the couple.
During the searches, investigators reportedly recovered approximately Rs 70 lakh in cash, along with jewellery and expensive watches. The investigation also brought to light information about two flats in Danapur.
The allegations are under investigation, and the recovery of assets does not by itself establish guilt.
Couple Accused Of Accumulating Assets Worth Over Rs 1.06 Crore
Kumari Sweety and her husband, Ravindra Kumar Diwakar, have been accused of possessing disproportionate assets worth approximately Rs 1,06,85,900.
Diwakar is posted as Additional Collector (Supply) in Patna. The Vigilance Investigation Bureau has registered a case against both of them in connection with the allegations.
The investigation is examining whether the couple’s identified assets can be accounted for through their known sources of income.
Vigilance Raids Recover Rs 70 Lakh In Cash
During searches at locations associated with the couple, vigilance officials reportedly recovered around Rs 70 lakh in cash, along with jewellery and luxury watches.
Investigators also obtained information about two flats in Danapur. These findings formed part of the inquiry into the alleged accumulation of assets beyond the couple’s known income.
The case was registered as Vigilance Police Station Case No. 113/26 on September 25, 2026. The bureau subsequently began investigating the allegations.
Department Cites Failure To Respond To Explanation Notices
The department’s suspension notification stated that Kumari Sweety’s alleged conduct was considered contrary to Rule 3 of the Bihar Government Servants’ Conduct Rules, 1976.
According to the notification, the department issued letters on October 5 and 6 seeking an explanation from her. The department stated that she had not submitted a response by the time the suspension decision was taken.
The government subsequently ordered her suspension under the Bihar Government Servants (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 2005.
The departmental action is separate from the ongoing vigilance investigation into the alleged disproportionate assets.
Development Bhawan To Be Her Headquarters During Suspension
During the suspension period, Kumari Sweety’s headquarters will remain at the departmental headquarters in Vikas Bhawan, Patna. She will receive subsistence allowance in accordance with the applicable rules.
The department has also made temporary arrangements for the functioning of the Danapur registration office.
Pappu Kumar, the Sub-Registrar at Fatuha, has been given additional charge of the Danapur Sub-Registrar’s office until further orders.
The suspension takes effect under the applicable service rules, while the investigation into the alleged disproportionate assets continues.
