Patna: The UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) has extended the deadline for free online Aadhaar card updates by one year, now allowing citizens to make changes till June 14, 2027.
The decision comes as a large number of residents across states have yet to update Aadhaar details even after repeated advisories issued by the authority. The facility is aimed at ensuring that biometric and demographic information remains accurate and up to date.
Deadline Extension
Earlier, the deadline for free online updates was set for June 14. It has now been officially extended to June 14, 2027. The extension is expected to provide additional time for individuals who have not yet updated their Aadhaar details after 10 years of issuance.
No Fee Facility for Online Updates
Under the revised arrangement, no fee will be charged for online Aadhaar updates for one year. Citizens can update essential personal details such as address and mobile number through the “My Aadhaar” portal by submitting an online application.
UIDAI has advised users to ensure their information remains current, as outdated details may create hurdles in accessing several services.
Services That May Be Affected
Failure to update Aadhaar details may lead to difficulties in multiple essential services. These include delays in opening bank accounts, issues in receiving benefits under government welfare schemes, and interruptions in pension or subsidy transfers.
In addition, Aadhaar discrepancies may affect mobile SIM verification processes and create obstacles in linking Aadhaar with PAN cards, which is mandatory for various financial transactions.
Authorities have reiterated that maintaining updated Aadhaar information is important to avoid service disruptions and ensure smooth access to government and financial facilities.
