Patna: Political discussions in Bihar intensified after Bhojpuri actor-singer Khesari Lal Yadav met BJP leader Nitin Nabin at his residence in Patna on Saturday evening.
The meeting took place in the presence of Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and Bihar BJP president Sanjay Saraogi, prompting immediate speculation in political circles about a possible shift in Yadav’s political alignment.
Meeting at Nitin Nabin’s Residence
According to details, Khesari Lal Yadav visited Nabin’s residence in Patna during the evening hours. The presence of senior BJP leaders at the venue quickly drew attention from political observers and media.
The interaction came months after Yadav contested the Bihar Assembly election on an RJD ticket.
Speculation Over Political Shift
Following the meeting, rumours circulated that Khesari Lal Yadav could be preparing to join the BJP. The discussion gained traction due to the presence of multiple senior leaders at the same location.
However, no official statement from the BJP supported these claims.
Khesari Lal Yadav’s Clarification
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Khesari Lal Yadav dismissed the speculation, stating that he remains with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and will continue his association with the party.
He clarified that the visit was solely to extend birthday greetings to Nitin Nabin, and should not be linked to any political realignment.
Election Result Context
Khesari Lal Yadav contested the Bihar Assembly election as an RJD candidate but lost to BJP’s Chhoti Kumari by a margin of 7,600 votes.
He secured 79,245 votes, while Chhoti Kumari received 86,845 votes.
During his campaign, Yadav drew large crowds and actively campaigned across constituencies, but the final result favoured the BJP candidate.
