Lakhisarai/Patna: State agriculture minister and Lakhisarai MLA Vijay Kumar Sinha on Saturday expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of basic facilities at Lakhisarai railway station during his one-day visit to the district.
Passengers at the station complained about inadequate drinking water, poor cleanliness, insufficient seating arrangements and the condition of toilets, among other issues.
Following the complaints, Sinha contacted senior railway officials and directed them to address the deficiencies at the earliest. He also sought immediate improvement in passenger amenities at the station.
Minister warns against negligence
Sinha said a large number of passengers travel through Lakhisarai railway station every day and described the absence of essential facilities as a matter of concern.
He said providing better amenities to passengers was the railway administration’s responsibility and added that negligence in this regard would not be tolerated.
The minister instructed officials to improve sanitation, drinking water supply, lighting and other facilities within the station premises.
Appeal for use of public and electric transport
During the visit, Sinha also reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to reduce fuel consumption and encouraged people to make greater use of trains and electric vehicles.
After attending various programmes during his visit to Lakhisarai, the minister later departed for Deoghar by train.
