Patna: In a significant organisational shake-up ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced a major expansion of its district-level structure. The changes were unveiled on Monday during a press conference addressed by party General Secretary Keshav Kishore Prasad and Senior State Vice President RTN Manoj Kumar.
According to the party leaders, AAP already had existing committees at the state, district, and assembly levels. However, in light of the election preparations, these units have been expanded to bolster grassroots engagement. The revamped structure will include both existing office-bearers and new entrants, individuals described as politically active and well-rooted in their local communities.
The move aligns with AAP’s previously declared intention to contest all 243 seats in the upcoming elections. State leader Ajay Yadav had earlier confirmed the party’s full-scale electoral ambitions, which, party leaders argue, necessitate a strong presence down to the booth level. “Strengthening our district units is essential to effectively contest on all seats,” said General secretary during the briefing.
National leader Sanjay Singh recently visited Bihar to mobilise support, reiterating the party’s commitment to a full contest across the state. In a strongly worded statement, Singh criticised the BJP, accusing it of displacing Biharis from Delhi. “Now the people of Bihar will respond by ousting the BJP from the state,” he declared.
Meanwhile, AAP Bihar President Rakesh Yadav continues his outreach efforts through the ongoing “Kejriwal Yatra,” a campaign tour aimed at connecting with voters across regions. So far, the yatra has covered Mithilanchal, Kosi, and Seemanchal, with its next leg scheduled for Shahabad and Magadh. The party claims the yatra is receiving a warm response, energising both its leadership and cadre.
