Patna: In a shocking incident, Additional Superintendent of Police (SP) Premchandra Singh of the Bihar Military Police (BMP) was seriously injured after miscreants snatched his mobile phone and pushed him onto the railway tracks at Phulwari Sharif railway station.
The incident occurred around 9 pm on September 20, when Singh (54) was walking on platform numbers 2–3. Two youths approached him, snatched his phone, and attempted to flee. Displaying courage, Singh chased and managed to catch one of the miscreants. In retaliation, they pushed him onto the railway tracks with the intention of killing him.
Local people rushed to his aid and shifted him to Paras Hospital, where doctors confirmed a fracture in his left arm. Singh had fallen unconscious during the attack and regained consciousness only on September 22.
Statement Recorded, FIR Registered
After regaining consciousness, Singh provided his statement at the IGIMS TOP office. Based on his complaint, an FIR was registered at Patna Junction Railway Police Station on September 23. The Railway Police have launched raids to track down the accused, and a special team has been formed to expedite the investigation.
Family and Background
According to reports, Singh’s wife, Uma Singh, is also in the police force and serves as a sub-inspector at Sardar Patel Bhawan in Patna. Originally from Ramgarh in Kaimur district, the Additional SP currently resides with his family in an apartment in Mahuabagh, Patna.
Authorities have assured that strict action will be taken against those involved in the attack on the senior police officer.
