Patna: A doctor from Patna has brought international recognition to India after receiving a major global award in dermatology. Dr. Swetalina Pradhan, who works at All India Institute of Medical Sciences Patna, has been selected for the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV) Scholarship 2026. She is the only candidate from India to receive this honour this year.
The scholarship is part of a highly competitive global programme called the Imrich Sarkany Non-European Memorial Scholarship. Only 30 doctors from outside Europe are chosen each year, and only one person is selected from each country. Candidates are judged on their research work, publications, academic record, and scientific presentations.
With this achievement, Dr. Pradhan will now attend the EADV Congress 2026, which will be held in Vienna. The event is one of the most important global meetings in the field of skin and venereal diseases, where leading doctors and researchers share new ideas and discoveries.
The award also includes full financial support, a grant of €1000, and membership of the EADV for 2027. It will give her a chance to connect with top experts from around the world and share her own research on a global platform.
Her success is being seen as a proud moment for India and especially for AIIMS Patna. It shows how Indian doctors and medical institutions are making their mark in international science and healthcare. Her journey is also inspiring young medical students, showing that hard work and dedication can lead to global opportunities.
