Patna: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Patna held the 10th meeting of its institute body on January 21, bringing together senior policymakers, medical experts and academic leaders to review the institute’s progress and future direction. The meeting was seen as an important step towards strengthening governance and long-term planning at the premier medical institution.
Chaired by Dr Radha Krishan Dhiman, president of AIIMS Patna, the meeting was attended by Prof (Brig) Dr Raju Agarwal, executive director and chief executive officer, who served as member secretary. Several members joined in person, including MPs Tariq Anwar and Satish Chandra Dubey, along with senior academics and clinicians from institutions such as IIT Patna, AIIMS New Delhi, JIPMER Puducherry and PGIMER Chandigarh.
Other members who were unable to attend physically participated through virtual mode, ensuring full representation and detailed deliberations. Senior officials from AIIMS Patna, including the dean of academics and the deputy director of administration, were also present as special invitees.
The institute body discussed a wide range of issues, including academic standards, clinical services, research development, infrastructure expansion and administrative efficiency. Members offered strategic guidance aimed at accelerating the growth of AIIMS Patna as a centre for tertiary healthcare, medical education and biomedical research.
The meeting also noted the recent nomination of new members by the central government, including senior officials from the health ministry, the Bihar government and leading academic institutions. Participants welcomed the expanded representation, describing it as a boost to institutional oversight and policy alignment.
Concluding the meeting, the institute body expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting AIIMS Patna’s vision of providing high-quality and affordable healthcare, while contributing to medical training and research for the benefit of Bihar and the wider eastern region.
