Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was presented with the ISO 9001:2015 certification on Wednesday, marking a milestone for the state’s general administration department. The certificate was handed over by representatives of Indian Register Quality Systems at the Chief Minister’s official residence in Patna.

The international certification has been awarded to the general administration department in recognition of departmental reforms and administrative innovation. CM Nitish has served as the head of the department since 2005, overseeing a series of structural and procedural changes aimed at improving governance.

According to officials, the ISO 9001:2015 certification was formally granted on January 12, 2026 and will remain valid until 2029. Over the past three years, the department has focused on renovating workspaces, streamlining internal systems and introducing measures to strengthen transparency and accountability.
Senior officials were present at the event, including the Chief Minister’s principal secretary Deepak Kumar and the additional chief secretary of the General Administration Department, Dr B Rajender. Representatives from Indian Register Quality Systems, along with secretaries and senior officers from the department, also attended the ceremony, underlining the significance the state government has attached to the certification.
