Gayaji: Air India has announced that it will restart its direct flight service between Delhi and Gayaji from 1 September. The airline has started ticket bookings for this route after a long gap of five years. This move is expected to help people travelling for religious and tourism purposes, especially those going to Bodh Gaya.
The starting fare for an economy class ticket is Rs 7,122, while business class tickets will cost up to Rs 25,000. The flight will leave Delhi every day at 2.30 pm and will reach Gayaji at 4 pm. On its return, the flight will depart from Gaya at 4.40 pm and land in Delhi by 6.10 pm. Passengers will board from Terminal 3 of IGI Airport in Delhi.
Currently, only Indigo operates a direct flight between Delhi and Gayaji. With Air India entering this route, passengers are likely to get cheaper fares and better flight timings due to competition. The new service will increase the number of direct flights between the two cities to two.
Gayaji is famous for its religious importance, and Bodh Gaya attracts many international tourists and Buddhist pilgrims. Air India’s return to Gayaji Airport will not only help domestic travellers but also foreigners who visit Bihar via Delhi. The airline hopes this will make their travel easier and smoother in the coming months.
