Bhagalpur/Patna: Akshara Gupta, the 15-year-old captain of Bihar’s under-19 women’s cricket team, scored an unbeaten 306 runs off 126 balls in the Bihar Cricket Association’s (BCA) women’s under-19 one-day tournament in Bhagalpur, setting a new benchmark in the state’s age-group cricket.
The innings, played during a tournament fixture this week, included 55 boundaries and eight sixes, with a strike rate of 242.86.
The knock helped her side post a commanding total and strengthened their position in the match.
Record innings in Bihar cricket
Cricket officials and coaches described the innings as one of the most significant in Bihar women’s cricket.
According to BCA records, Gupta has become the youngest player from Bihar to score an unbeaten triple century in organised state-level cricket.
Her performance has drawn attention within the domestic circuit, particularly in women’s age-group competitions.
Rising profile in state cricket
Gupta, who hails from Raxaul in East Champaran district, was appointed captain of Bihar’s under-19 zonal women’s team for both T20 and one-day formats earlier this month.
This is the second consecutive year she has been given the leadership role.
In 2025, she led Bihar to the zonal championship and was named player of the match twice during the campaign.
Consistent progress
Officials said Gupta has also become the first woman cricketer from Bihar to feature in four consecutive BCCI women’s tournaments within two years.
Her latest innings adds to a growing list of achievements and is being seen as a significant moment for women’s cricket in the state.
Her performance has been widely welcomed in Raxaul and across East Champaran, with local supporters and cricket followers expressing hope that she will progress to higher levels of the game.
