Muzaffarpur: A major industrial project is set to take shape in Muzaffarpur as Ambuja Cements prepares to invest more than Rs 1,100 crore in a new cement manufacturing unit. The project has received initial approval from the State Investment Promotion Board and is being seen as one of the biggest industrial investments in the district in recent years. State officials say the move could bring new momentum to Bihar’s efforts to expand industries and attract large companies to the state.
The proposed plant will be built in the Mahwal industrial area of Muzaffarpur. According to officials, the unit will have a production capacity of 8,219 metric tonnes per day. This large-scale facility is expected to support the construction sector in Bihar and nearby regions, where demand for cement has been increasing because of road building, housing projects and public works. The company is expected to use modern machinery and updated technology to ensure better production and environmental standards.
The new investment is part of Bihar’s wider plan to strengthen its industrial base. Over the past few years, the state government has introduced new policies to encourage companies to set up factories and businesses. Officials say easier approvals, land support and incentives are helping Bihar attract investors who earlier preferred other states. The approval given to Ambuja’s project is being viewed as a sign that Bihar is slowly becoming a stronger destination for large industries.
Kundan Kumar, secretary of the industries department, said the project shows the growing confidence of investors in Bihar. He said the cement plant will help create direct and indirect employment for local people, while also increasing transport, trade and business opportunities in surrounding areas. Many believe the project could also encourage more industries to come to Muzaffarpur and nearby districts in the coming years.
The arrival of such a large cement unit is expected to change the industrial landscape of Muzaffarpur. Along with jobs inside the factory, there may also be work opportunities in transport, construction, supply chains and local services. Business owners in the region are hopeful that the plant will bring more economic activity and improve infrastructure. For Bihar, which has long been working to attract private investment, this project is being seen as an important step towards industrial growth and regional development.
