Patna: Union home minister Amit Shah will arrive in Bihar on September 18 as part of the BJP’s preparations for the forthcoming assembly elections, seeking to mobilise workers and finalise campaign strategy.
According to party officials, Shah will address two key meetings on the day — one with workers in Dehri-on-Sone in Rohtas district and another in the Begusarai zone. Around 2,000 to 2,500 workers, including district presidents, legislators and senior leaders, are expected to attend. The state unit has divided Bihar into five zones, with Shah’s outreach intended to cover multiple regions ahead of the polls.
As part of the plan, the BJP will launch a door-to-door campaign from September 18 to 25, during which booth-level workers and leaders will inform residents about central and state government schemes and their benefits.
Shah has also been invited by the Bihar State Religious Trust Council to attend a meeting with priests, saints and sadhus at Patna’s Bapu Auditorium the same day, though his participation has not been officially confirmed.
Later in the month, Shah is expected to meet Bihar BJP leaders on September 27 to discuss seat-sharing, candidate selection and broader election strategy. The party and its allies are reportedly aiming to contest 225 seats this time.
The visit comes a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the interim terminal building of the new civil enclave at Purnia airport and launched projects worth Rs 36,000 crore, in the presence of chief minister Nitish Kumar, governor Arif Mohammad Khan and deputy chief ministers Vijay Kumar Sinha and Samrat Chaudhary.
