Darbhanga: On the final day of campaigning for the Bihar Assembly elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a rally in Jale, Darbhanga, warning that the “era of Jungle Raj” could return if the RJD-Congress alliance comes to power.
“On 6 November, press the lotus button — not just to elect an MLA but to stop Jungle Raj,” Shah said to a cheering crowd. “Jungle Raj wants to return with a changed face and new clothes. Your job is to stop them.”
Shah accused RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav and his allies of looting Bihar during their 15-year rule. “For 15 years, Lalu and company looted Bihar, and when Congress ruled the Centre for 10 years, they did nothing for the poor. They only worked for themselves,” he said.
The Home Minister will hold three public meetings today — in Darbhanga, Motihari, and Bettiah — in support of NDA candidates. On Monday, he addressed rallies in Sitamarhi and Madhubani, where he intensified attacks on the opposition.
‘Industries of Kidnapping and Loot’
In his earlier speeches, Shah accused the RJD of institutionalising crime in Bihar. “Lalu and Rabri established industries of kidnapping, loot, ransom, and murder. If the RJD forms the government again, those ministries will reopen,” he said. “We must vote to keep Bihar free from Jungle Raj.”
‘Ram Temple Will Unite the Nation’
Continuing his pitch to Hindu voters, Shah said the Congress and RJD “opposed the Ram Temple,” while the Modi government “fulfilled the centuries-old promise of a grand temple in Ayodhya.” He also announced that a direct train from Sitamarhi to Ayodhya would soon begin operations and that the NDA plans to build a grand temple for Sita as part of a cultural corridor.
A Taste of Mithila
After his rallies, Shah visited Mithila Haat in Madhubani, where he dined on traditional Bihari cuisine served on a brass thali. His dinner included Dal-Baati-Chokha, Malpua, Thekua, Dahi Bhalla, and Makhan Bhog, alongside the famous Sachar Thali of 36 Mithila dishes.
