Patna: This weekend marks a series of significant religious observances for devotees across India. On Saturday, worshippers will celebrate Anant Chaturdashi, honouring Lord Vishnu by tying sacred threads known as Anant on their arms, while also marking the conclusion of the ten-day Ganeshotsav with Ganapati Visarjan. Idols of Lord Ganesha will be immersed in rivers and water bodies with chants of “Ganpati Bappa Morya.”
Both rituals coincide with Dhanishta Nakshatra, with the moon moving into Aquarius after 11 am. The following day, Sunday, falls on Bhadrapada Purnima in Shatabhisha Nakshatra. Devotees will observe traditional fasting, bathing and donation rituals, while Pitru Paksha – a period dedicated to offering prayers and tarpan for ancestors – also begins.
Adding to the spiritual significance, a total lunar eclipse will occur on Sunday night. The sutak, a period of ritual abstinence, will begin at 12.57 pm, with the eclipse visible from 9.57 pm to 1.26 am.
