Patna: Former Mokama MLA and political strongman Anant Singh met with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at the CM’s residence on Saturday, fueling speculation that he is seeking a Janata Dal (United) (JDU) ticket for the upcoming assembly elections.
Singh, who was recently granted bail by the High Court, spent approximately 15 minutes at the CM’s House. He declined to speak to the media upon his departure and left directly for his home. Sources suggest that Singh, a former JDU member, has expressed his desire to contest from the Mokama constituency on the party’s ticket.
The meeting comes shortly after another prominent leader, Anand Mohan, along with his wife Lovely Anand and son Chetan Anand, also met with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. This was Chetan Anand’s first meeting with the Chief Minister since a controversy surrounding his medical treatment at AIIMS.
Anant Singh was granted bail by the High Court on August 5, with the court citing a review of the evidence and case diary. The bail was granted with the condition that he must regularly appear for judicial proceedings and refrain from any criminal activities.
After his release from jail on August 6, Singh returned to his constituency of Mokama on August 7, where he was welcomed by supporters and met with local residents.
