Patna: The newly appointed Divisional Commissioner of Patna, Animesh Kumar Parashar, officially took charge on Saturday. He replaced Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, who had been serving as the Divisional Commissioner before him. Soon after assuming office, Parashar spoke about his priorities and made it clear that ensuring free, fair and peaceful Bihar Legislative Assembly elections in 2025 will be his main focus.
Speaking to the media, Parashar said that the elections will be conducted in a transparent, fear-free and participatory manner, following all the guidelines of the Election Commission of India. He said that preparations for the elections in all six districts under the Patna Division — Patna, Nalanda, Bhojpur, Buxar, Rohtas and Kaimur — will be regularly reviewed. He also added that the Model Code of Conduct will be strictly followed, and there will be no compromise in maintaining law and order during the entire election process.

The new Commissioner also talked about his larger goals for the administration. He said that transparency, accountability and sensitivity will be the foundation of his work. All public welfare schemes and development projects will be implemented efficiently so that their benefits reach the people on time. Parashar mentioned that he will closely monitor the progress of all government programmes across districts and hold regular coordination meetings with District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police to review ongoing works and address local issues quickly.
After taking charge, Parashar met with officers and staff at the Divisional Commissioner’s Office and introduced himself. He praised the work culture of the Patna Division, saying that all officials and staff work with team spirit and dedication. He expressed confidence that with everyone’s cooperation, the administration will continue to perform strongly and deliver results that benefit the public.
The Commissioner further directed all officers to remain alert, committed and sensitive while working for the people. He stressed that officials must maintain strong coordination and communication with each other to ensure that every government welfare scheme reaches those who need it most. Parashar said his aim is to build an administration that is efficient, transparent and people-friendly.
