Patna: As preparations for the Bihar Assembly elections intensify, the Transport Department has fixed daily compensation rates for all vehicles deployed for election duty. This step aims to ensure smooth transport arrangements for election staff, materials, and logistics across the state. The rates cover a wide range of vehicles, including buses, mini-buses, cars, SUVs, auto-rickshaws, and motorcycles, both commercial and private.
Mihir Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary of the Transport Department, issued a circular to District Magistrates, Divisional Commissioners, Superintendents of Police, and District Transport Officers detailing the approved rates. The compensation will be paid to vehicle owners whose vehicles are requisitioned for election work. Officials say this move will make the process transparent and prevent disputes over payments during the election period.
The daily rates vary according to the type and size of the vehicle. Large buses with 50 or more seats will receive Rs 3,500 per day, while buses with 40 to 49 seats are fixed at Rs 3,200. Mini-buses are set at Rs 2,500 per day, small cars Rs 1,000, and small air-conditioned cars Rs 1,100. Jeeps and Commanders will receive Rs 1,000, Boleros and Sumo cars Rs 1,200, and air-conditioned Xylo, Bolero, and Marshall vehicles Rs 1,500. Premium SUVs like Innovas and Safaris have been assigned Rs 2,100 per day. Auto-rickshaws will be paid Rs 700 and motorcycles Rs 350 per day.
The Transport Department’s decision comes as thousands of vehicles will be used to support the elections across Bihar’s districts. Officials stressed that fixed rates will ensure that vehicle owners are fairly compensated and that election transport operations proceed efficiently. With clear guidelines in place, the administration aims to maintain smooth and organized logistics, helping the elections run in a transparent and orderly manner.
