Mumbai: Apple’s annual showcase on September 9, 2025 was heavy with headline launches, from the iPhone 17 line-up to new Apple Watches. But the quiet disruptor of the evening may have been the AirPods Pro 3, a complete rethink of Apple’s flagship earbuds.
The new AirPods feature redesigned foam eartips tailored for comfort and improved Active Noise Cancellation. Each pair comes with five interchangeable tips to fit a variety of ear shapes. Apple claims the result is “exceptional sound quality” and a more personalised listening experience.
In a nod to sustainability, 65% of the AirPods’ construction uses recycled plastic, without compromising durability. The earbuds carry an IP57 rating, making them resistant to dust and water.
What sets them apart from previous generations, however, is their expanded functionality. AirPods Pro 3 include heart rate sensing technology that syncs with the iOS Workout Experience, effectively turning them into fitness companions. They also support an AirPods Hearing Test, Hearing Protection, and an upgraded Transparency mode with a hearing-aid style boost lasting up to 10 hours.
Perhaps the most futuristic feature is Live Translation, allowing users to converse in real time across languages when paired with an iPhone.
Battery life has seen a notable upgrade too: up to 8 hours of continuous use on a single charge, compared to 6 hours on the previous generation.
Priced at Rs 25,900 in India, AirPods Pro 3 are available for pre-order now, with sales starting on September 19.
