Patna: Bollywood actor Arshad Warsi, best known for his iconic roles in Golmaal, Ishqiya and Jolly LLB, arrived in Patna on Saturday to promote his upcoming ZEE5 release, Bhagwat Chapter One: Rakshas. The actor charmed fans with his candid remarks about Bihar’s language, culture, and cuisine, saying he wouldn’t leave the state “without eating litti-chokha.”
The film, set to premiere on October 17, is a suspense thriller inspired by true events. Warsi plays a police officer whose journey begins after catching the criminal—a twist that challenges traditional storytelling in crime cinema.
He described the film as thought-provoking and emotionally intense, exploring the thin line between right and wrong. “It’s not based on mythology despite the title,” Warsi clarified. “The name Bhagwat Chapter One: Rakshas is purely symbolic and chosen by the director.”
Director Akshay Shere revealed that the story was inspired by a newspaper article and features Panchayat actor Jitendra Kumar in a surprising negative role. “I needed someone whose face appears innocent yet hides something darker,” Shere said, adding that Bihar’s raw landscape might host the sequel, Bhagwat Chapter Two.
Warsi, who prefers playing relatable characters over larger-than-life heroes, said he enjoys taking on new roles that challenge him as an actor. “I like stories about real people and real emotions. That’s where the truth of acting lies,” he remarked.
Speaking warmly about Bihar, Warsi praised the musical rhythm of the Bihari dialect. “It has its own swag—just like Punjabi has energy, Bihari has charm,” he said. He also expressed interest in shooting future projects in the state, citing its cultural richness and authenticity.
