Aurangabad: A woman and her two daughters died in a heartbreaking accident in Aurangabad district, Bihar, on Sunday. The three drowned in a village pond after each tried to rescue the other. The incident has left Thekhi village in shock.
Police said the tragedy began when 10-year-old Rinki Kumari slipped while washing her feet at the pond and fell into the water. Her mother, Anita Devi, 45, immediately jumped in to save her, but she too started drowning. Seeing both of them in danger, Pratima Kumari, 25, the elder daughter, leapt into the pond. Sadly, she was also unable to swim to safety.
Villagers rushed to help but could not save the family. All three bodies were later recovered and sent for postmortem. Police confirmed the deaths were accidental.
The deaths of three members of one family have cast a shadow of grief over the village. Locals described the incident as a shocking reminder of the dangers posed by ponds and open water in rural areas, where accidents of this kind are not uncommon.
